Best time to Visit

Maldives experiences wonderfully warm climate throughout the year. Temperature is moderated by the presence of vast sea and oceans surrounding the small islands. The average temperature ranges from 25°C to 32°C. With the influence of the monsoon, seasonal fluctuations in temperature are observed throughout the year. The fact that the Maldives is located at the equator, Maldives receives plentiful of sunshine throughout the year. The warmest period are observed during March, April and extends up to onset of southwest monsoon in mid-May. The temperature in Maldives barely falls below 25°C . Peak season is experienced from November to April when its less windy, hotter & drier.

If warm weather and sun-drenched beaches are a priority, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Maldives in January, February or March. These months fall outside the monsoon period and are typically when the islands get the most hours of sun.

As we go through the Season Chart Late April is when the first showers of the year start to appear but April to August is still a wonderful time to book a holiday to the Maldives, simply because it’s one of the most inexpensive times to visit. Even with an increased chance of rainfall, expect between seven and eight hours of daily sunshine.

June and July are ideal months to try surfing in the Maldives because the waves are at their highest. A growing number of resorts now have surf schools. The Maldives’ Independence Day is on July 26 and parades, parties and cultural performances transform this island nation as everyone celebrates together, with some of the most colorful celebrations held at the country’s resorts. Typically, there’s a wider range of cultural activities for guests to enjoy, whether it’s masterclasses led by traditional lacquer artists or lessons in leaf-folding, which involves creating elaborate sculptures from palm leaves.

Typically monsoon season tails off in late November. This is when prices start to creep up due to the demand for winter sun holidays, while rates rise closer to Christmas.  During this time of year, the snorkeling and diving are fantastic, with the most clear and calm waters. Check out the atolls, which are famous for its diverse marine life and spectacular coral formations. If you’re a beach bum who loves a sun lounger, expect an average of nine hours of sunshine during these months, while humidity levels remain low and average temperatures hover around 29°C (84°F).
